WHAT IS A TYPICAL DAY LIKE?

At Extended Day the children will have a choice of activities, some planned around a theme or interest area, and some center activities that are always available. The activities, games and centers are arranged with the children's developmental level and expressed interests in mind. They include art, music, cooking, science, stories, dramatic play, board and card games, crafts, manipulative and building tools, woodworking, tumbling and sports. There is ample time for outside play when the weather permits, or gym time. Field trips and special guests at the center are an integral part of the program. Nutritional snacks (prepared by both children and adults) are provided at mid-morning and mid-afternoon.

IS THIS AN EXTENSION OF SCHOOL KINDERGARTEN?

This is NOT be a repetition or a continuation of the school's kindergarten program but will provide an opportunity for playtime and exploration of your child's own individual interests, as well as a chance to expand and develop socialization skills. The children are encouraged to make choices and to help plan the activities.

There will always be at least two teachers present. The teachers are certified in early childhood and elementary education and have previous experience working with kindergarten aged children. The monitors on the buses are teachers in the program.
