WHAT PROGRAMS ARE AVAILABLE?

There are three school year programs offered through the Extended Day Program. The School Age Program offers before and after school care for children in grades 1-5. The Kindergarten Care Program offers care during the half of the day when children are not attending their Kindergarten class.

 
 

 

WHERE ARE THE CENTERS LOCATED?

School Age centers are located in Foster, Hoover, Howe, Jefferson, Lincoln, Markham and Washington Elementary Schools.

 
 

 

WHAT HOURS DO THE CENTERS OPERATE?

The School Age Programs operate before and after school from 7:00 - 8:45 a.m. and 3:00 - 6:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.

 
 

 

WHAT HAPPENS ON INSERVICE DAYS?

On the Inservice days when school is not in session, but the school buildings are open, MLEDP will operate for the whole or half day. Families have the opportunity to sign up to attend these days if they will need care. Often the children will participate in a field trip or special activity for the day. MLEDP is closed during the school holidays when the buildings are closed.

 
 

 

WHAT HAPPENS ON SNOW DAYS?

On the mornings that there is a 10:00 a.m. start for school for the Mt. Lebanon School District, the School Age and Kindergarten Care Centers will open at their normal time (7:00 a.m.). Children will remain at the center until the school day begins.

 
 

 

IS TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE?

MLEDP operates it's own Pennsylvania licensed school buse. The buse is used for transportation to and from the Kindergarten Care Program and for some field trips. MLEDP does not transport children to or from their homes.

 
 

 

WHAT ARE THE CHILD TO ADULT RATIOS?

All MLEDP centers are licensed through the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare and must adhere to their adult to child ratios which are 1:10 for Kindergarten children, 1:12 for young school age children (grades 1-3) and 1:15 for older school age children. For special activities or field trips, a lower ratio is maintained.

 
 

 

ARE SNACKS SERVED?

An afternoon snack is served when the children arrive at the center at the end of their school day. Parents are provided with either a monthly or weekly menu, which lists the daily snacks.

 
 

 

HOW ARE SCHEDULES AND TUITION DETERMINED?

Children can be enrolled for individual morning and/or afternoon sessions or for an entire week of morning and afternoon care. Weekly tuition is determined by the number of sessions registered for. Parents/guardians are responsible for payment of contracted care.

 
 

 

HOW DO I REGISTER?

To register for the School Year Care Program, go to Register on this website for all Registration forms. Send these forms to the office along with your registration fee. This initiates the registration process. We suggest filling out the forms on-line and in the convience of your own home, it does take some time.
