Howe Kindergarten Care Staff

Center Director

Laura Flaus has a degree in Early Childhood Education from the CCAC and has worked with children both professionally and as a volunteer throughout the past 40 years. Experience includes serving as an Assistant Daycare Director for ten years, a preschool teacher for five years, and a day camp counselor, volunteered as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, Sunday school teacher, and VBS teacher. She is married and have two adult daughters, and lives in Mt. Lebanon.  She enjoys visiting with my family, reading, and working in my garden.

Center Staff

Ms. Christie (PM) graduated from Slippery Rock University with a BS in Elementary Education and a specialization in Early Childhood Education. She taught for 15+ years in a private school, teaching 2nd & 3rd grade and Transitional Preschool. She has been working with MLEDP for 6+ years and has worked with the School Age Program as well as Kindergarten Care. Ms. Christie loves working with children and watching them progress and develop. She also thinks that they are very funny!  In her free time Ms. Christie enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, eating, and attending concerts with her husband, brother, and friends.

Mrs. Simon (AM) has a BA in Child Development/Family Relations from IUP and has worked with MLEDP for over 25 years. She loves working with children and listening to their daily stories. She also enjoys watching them make friends and seeing the bonds grow between them throughout the year. Mrs. Simon has two teenage daughters who Rock her World. My older daughter is starting her freshman year in college and my younger daughter is starting her junior year in high school.

Ms. Georgia (PM) has a BA in Greek Culture and a Masters in Eastern Christian Theology. She has been a Greek language over 20 years for children and adults. She is an official Translator for over 15 years. She has been involved in church related activities of groups of all ages, and in curriculum programming and summer camp for over 20 years. She is interested in arts and crafts. She has been with MLEDP for 5 years and she is looking forward to spending one more year with another group of kindergarten students. In her spare time, she volunteers facilitating a group discussion online, plus she is leading an online art gallery. 

Miss Emmeline (AM) has a BS in Psychology from Kansas State University. She grew up in Mt. Lebanon and enjoys traveling, listening to music, making art and being outside. She loves watching the kids progress and loves their hilarious stories. Her is to another successful school year.

Additional Rate and Schedule Calendar Information

*A Typical School Day is a day when children are scheduled for a regular session of school.

*Typical Days Billing: The Typical Days listed above in the Kindergarten Care Schedule Calendar, are totaled (based on your RSPA agreement) then divided into easy monthly installments.

The following items are billed separately.

  1. **Long Days are in service-clerical days and parent teacher conference days with 11.5 hours of care available.
  2. **Long Days are always billed separately. Since families sign up for care as needed and Long Days are an additional cost, we do not pre-bill for these days. You are only billed for the days for which you sign up. No Tuition Credits are Given for absences on Long Days.
  3. Late Pick Up Fee - $10.00 for every 15-minute increment beyond closing time (6:30 p.m.).
  4. Late Payment Fee - Payments are due the first day of every month. A late fee of 5% of the account balance will be assessed to accounts, if payment arrives after the 5th day of the month.
  5. Failure To Call Off Fee: If your child is scheduled for afternoon care and is absent without calling to inform the center, then you will be charged a $25.00 Failure To Call Off Fee.
